As I tried to say in my first post, my mother is Japanese. She was born and raised in Tokyo, but unfortunately, it was difficult for her to speak to my brother and me in Japanese when we were young because my father doesn't speak any Japanese. As a result, I've never really learned this language, which I've always regretted. I'm taking this class because I want to speak my mother's native language and communicate with my mother's family, all of whom still live in Japan.
I'm very excited about this class because I know it follows a very ambitious curriculum and Sato Sensei is the best Japanese professor to have! I can't believe how much we have already learned just in the past 2 weeks.
What I find difficult is remembering what we've learned! Although I spend a lot of time studying the vocabulary and the grammar, it's difficult to remember it all when I get to class.
Overall, I'm very grateful I have this wonderful opportunity to study Japanese and I'm very excited about the prospect of learning so much just in this semester!
